About Me
I am a qualified Registered Counsellor, registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and a member of ARCSA. I completed my BA degree in Psychological Counselling at the University of South Africa and then went on to complete my Honours degree in Psychology at the University of South Africa. Following that, I completed my BPsych Accreditation Degree at Cornerstone Institute.
Additional training includes Brain Working Recursive Therapy (BWRT) - Level 1 Practitioner, Perinatal Bereavement Facilitator (Doula), Foundations in Palliative Care, and Psychosocial Palliative Care.
The most rewarding aspect of doing this work is the satisfaction that comes with witnessing first-hand the healing and growth that my clients experience, as they integrate various aspects of self to find a renewed sense of meaning and purpose in their lives. I believe we all have the power within us to find joy and succeed, and thrive and be happy.
I am committed to providing accessible psychological services which focus on supporting and promoting the well-being of individuals, families and groups. I believe that counselling is a collaborative process and my work is grounded in an Existential Approach, while drawing from a number of theoretical models, applying holistic, solution-focused interventions that best suit the needs of the client to focus on what will bring about the most meaningful change in their lives.
I have a special interest in working with children, adolescents, adults and families that are navigating life with life-limiting illnesses such as Cystic Fibrosis or those affected by the death of a loved one or those who are living with illnesses such as cancer. I work with individuals and their families, helping them cope with and manage the associated psycho-social challenges as well as dealing with any concerns, anxieties and fears during and post-illness as well as end-of-life fears.
Additional areas of interest include but are not limited to: personal growth and identity development, family relationship struggles, adjustments difficulties, loss and bereavement, trauma, self-esteem, bullying, stress, burnout and lifestyle management, self-development, dealing with divorce, coping and adjusting to parent’s separation, divorce or remarriage, step-family integration, sexual and domestic abuse, identity issues, relationship problems with peers, siblings, parents and others.
I am passionate about partnering with people on their journey toward living more authentically and finding meaning and purpose in their lives. I hope that the information provided on my website will assist you in deciding whether counselling is the right choice for you.
I see my path, but I don’t know exactly where it leads.
Not knowing where I’m going is what inspires me.
I am a firm believer that my best life is on the other side of my biggest fear!
